Lincolnshire Branch Area and Services
The Branch provides services to all those affected by MND in Lincolnshire extending from Caistor in the North to Stamford in the south and from Gainsborough and Lincoln to Skegness, Boston, Spalding and the Lincolnshire fens in the south east.
The area is the same as that covered by the United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust (ULH) which provide medical services throughout the county. We work closely with the ULH Outreach Team, a team of specialist nurses, occupational therapists and technicians, who are based at the Lincoln and Grantham hospitals and who regularly visit patients in their homes.
As the county is so large, GPs will initially refer patients to the specialist neurological departments of Peterborough, Nottingham, Sheffield or Lincoln Hospitals for diagnosis. The names of patients diagnosed with MND are passed to the Outreach Team who carry out the initial visit and assess the patients needs. The MND Association is also informed through our Regional Care Adviser, Jane Connell who is based in Newark.
The Branch is dedicated to provided additional care and support to improve the quality of life for all those affected by the disease in Lincolnshire. This includes specialist equipment which is not provided through the health services, and we offer help and support for patients and carers through our team of specially trained Association Visitors. You will find further details on the contacts page.
